CAR ACCIDENTS IN CONNECTICUT CAN LEAD TO WHIPLASH

Those in Connecticut who have experienced whiplash can attest to just how painful and debilitating this injury can be. Whiplash takes place when a person’s head is jolted back and forth, causing the tendons in their neck to stretch and tear. Motor vehicle accidents, falls, contact sports accidents, bicycle accidents and blows to the head are common causes of whiplash.

Symptoms of whiplash do not always manifest themselves right away. Sometimes it may take as many as 24 hours for a person to develop symptoms of whiplash. Some common symptoms of whiplash include headaches, pain and stiffness in the neck, fatigue, blurred vision and dizziness. Less common symptoms of whiplash include problems with one’s ability to concentrate and remember things, poor sleep, chronic pain and irritability.

It can take up to three months to fully recover from whiplash. In that time, a person may accumulate a great deal of medical expenses, rehabilitation costs and they may have lost wages from being unable to work. If a person suffers whiplash in an accident caused by another party, it may be possible to hold that party responsible for the damages the accident victim incurred.

Keep in mind that the information in this post is for general purposes only and cannot replace the advice of a personal injury attorney. Whiplash can negatively affect a person’s life for months to come. It is important that whiplash victims are compensated in a fair and appropriate manner, so they can recover both physically and financially from the damages they suffered. For some, this means pursuing legal action.
