While the roadways in Connecticut can get busy and overwhelmed with traffic, motorists must pay attention to more than just vehicles on the roadways. In certain areas, drivers should take note of pedestrians and cyclists traveling near the roadways or crossing the road. Failure to see these individuals could result in a car striking a pedestrian, causing much harm or even death.
According the recent reports, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred in Stamford. The collision occurred during the nighttime hours at the intersection of Tresser Boulevard and Washington Boulevard. Police reports indicated that a 61-year-old female pedestrian was crossing Washington Boulevard when a 23-year-old female driver struck the pedestrian.
The driver remained at the scene of the crash, and, when emergency crews arrived, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigation is still ongoing at this time. No speculations of cause and liability have been made at this time, and no charges are currently pending.
The aftermath of motor vehicle accidents can be difficult to absorb and cope. The loss of a loved one is a challenging life event, especially when an individual is taken suddenly in an accident. While nothing can bring back the lost loved one, a wrongful death action could help address the losses assumed due to the fatal accident. This civil action could help surviving family members secure a compensation award to cover losses and damages arising from the incident. If you have questions regarding an accident you were involved in, you should contact an attorney to discuss the possibility of a filing a lawsuit.
